David Gelb’s work is all about perspective. Whether in documentary, music video, commercial, or narrative film, David explores the collision of contrasting points of view – of the artists, the subjects, the characters, and the audience – to elucidate the most dynamic and moving stories. David’s short film King of Central Park featured performances by Henry Winkler and Jerffrey Tambor and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Born and raised in New York City, David attended film school at USC in Los Angeles. Following his graduation, David traveled across America filming A Positive Rage, a road documentary on the rock outfit The Hold Steady. David then shadowed Fernando Meirelles through 94 days of shooting in Canada, Uruguay and Brazil, documenting the filming of his latest film, Blindness. David’s feature documentary, entitled A Vision of Blindness, enjoyed a run on the Sundance Channel in addition to its place on the Blindness DVD. David has directed music videos for John Fogerty and the Willowz, as well as behind-the-scenes shorts for Modest Mouse, Bright Eyes, and Incubus, among others.
