Jo was born in London to a mother a who is an accomplished figurative
painter, and a creative director father who spent his youth playing
in punk and soul bands. Jo and her brother Patrick both grew up
making music, and stealing the family's camcorder
to make short films whenever they could.

At 16, she gained a scholarship to study classical voice at the
Purcell School of Music, where she started to make electronic music
and absorbed herself in computing and technology.
She went on to study electro-acoustic music at the Guildhall School of
Music and Drama, and Audio engineering at the SAE in London, all the
while collaborating with bands and musicians such as Venetian Snares,
Patrick Wolf, Lightspeed Champion, and The Big Pink. She was also
releasing her own electronic music on record label Planet Mu.

She received her first directing break with illustrator Kate Moross,
co-directing a music video for Simian Mobile Disco.
Since then and since joining Partizan, Jo has directed music videos for DJ Hell & Bryan Ferry,
New Young Pony Club, Count & Sinden feat. Mystery Jets, and Fake Blood.
