In 1995, film buff Kim Chapiron started the directing collective Kourtrajme, and shot more than a dozen action and comedy shorts with Romain Gavras, Mathieu Kassovitz and Vincent Cassel. After ‘Sheitan’, Kim’s debut feature selected at the Toronto and Melbourne IFF, he directed ‘Dog Pound’ in 2010. This story of three juvenile delinquents under the care of an experienced guard won him a Best New Narrative Filmmaker award at Tribeca. Kim’s latest feature ‘Smart Ass’ confirms his natural way with young talent, and taste for in-your-face storytelling and imagery.
